Heaven's Ground
True rest too seldom found--
Compels us look beyond the strife
In search of heaven's ground.
The weary soul with hurting heart
Whom trials and cares surround,
Can still endure life's deepest dark
With light from heaven's ground.
For as the sun shines forth by day,
God's grace through love abounds
To pluck us from the miry clay--
By faith--to heaven's ground.
So many dear have gone before,
Their earthly tents pulled down,
To wait for us beyond death's door
To come to heaven's ground.
To know He'll wipe our tears away,
Those loved ones gathered round,
Does make us anxious for the day
When we see heaven's ground.
There'll be no death, nor dark of night,
Nor mind nor limb unsound.
For in that day He'll make all right
For those on heaven's ground.
Today we see through glass still dark--
By earth our vision's bound--
But one day soon the veil will part,
Revealing heaven's ground.
So soon the gates will open wide,
So soon the trump will sound,
So soon we'll lay all cares aside,
At last on heaven's ground!
