My Faith Is Small

My faith is small, I must confess,
And holds my heart in lowliness.
The fact is does is no surprise
When I see life through earthly eyes.
My faith instead should bid me fly,
To soar with eagle's wings on high,
Escape the devil's traps and snares
And find expression in my prayers.

The physical we see and feel;
The spiritual is far more real.
Though coexisting side by side,
A veil of darkness oft divides.
That veil is sometimes drawn aside,
Removing scales from earthly eyes,
And in a flash of insight's light
We walk by faith and not by sight.

When thus enlightened hearts perceive
The evidence of things unseen,
And substance grows where hope was traced,
God stamps approval on our faith.
The just are those who walk by faith;
In others God no pleasure takes.
For through the eye of faith we see
From time into eternity.

(Refrain)
My faith is small, I must confess,
But God is great in faithfulness.
When floods of fear and doubt arise,
His faithfulness before my eyes
Will pull me from that swelling sea;
'Tis all of Him and none of me.
