The Treasure
The early morning hours
Brought a visitor our way,
Who in quiet and gentle stillness,
A treasure stole away.
Brought a visitor our way,
Who in quiet and gentle stillness,
A treasure stole away.
He did not mean to do us harm,
Our best He had in mind,
But when He took our child in death
It hardly seemed too kind.
In darkest night He came for her,
On eagles' wings they'd soar;
At last her body would be healed,
Both now and evermore.
The King of Kings led her away
(That treasure at His side),
And when they crossed that great gulf fixed,
Her blind eyes opened wide.
So many times our loss seems great;
We miss her every day.
But I would not, for all earth's wealth,
Bring her back here to stay.
For heaven is the safest vault;
No thief nor harm intrudes.
Our treasure's on deposit there,
And soon we'll be there, too!
